About BLINK Alpine Wax

Focused specifically on alpine ski racing, BLINK Alpine develops glide technologies and ski preparation solutions designed for the modern fluoro-free racing era.

BLINK Alpine exists to support the racers, technicians, coaches, and mountain professionals who understand that every hundredth of a second counts — and that speed on snow is the result of dedication, preparation, experience, and the constant pursuit of speed through better tools.

After years spent training, coaching, and working in ski tuning rooms and race venues, it became clear that many traditional ski preparation systems rely heavily on layered paraffin blends adjusted with minor softeners and hardeners to create deceptive incremental performance changes — To be frank, they skimp on adding advanced glide additives to their product line.

While moderately effective, traditional wax systems are fikle, offering narrow performance windows, require extensive reheating of the skis, multiple steps, multiple tools, and valuable time at the tuning bench preparing each set of skis.

Traditional race waxing often requires extensive equipment, time, and complex tuning processes. BLINK Alpine takes a different approach — combining advanced wax chemistry, the finest glide additives with simple application methods that allow racers, coaches, and ski industry professionals to maintain ski performance without unnecessary complexity.

The goal is straightforward: Simpler preparation, easy application, reliable performance across changing mountain conditions equals FASTER SKIS.

Built on Decades of Race Experience

— We know Speed!

BLINK Alpine was founded by former ski racers and coaches with decades of experience at the highest levels of the sport. We blend real world experience with industry knowledge.

BLINK Alpine has developed an alternative race ski maintenance model — providing modern glide solutions designed to deliver strong performance — over a wide performance window — while simplifying the waxing process and still protecting race skis. Our approach focuses on efficient lubrication systems that reduce friction and maintain glide without requiring heat or fluorinated chemistry.

Products like Super Wax One reflect this philosophy: fast, durable glide combined with quick, slopeside application. The result is a waxing system designed for race ski environments — where racers, coaches, and technicians need reliable performance without unnecessary complexity.

Our Approach

Every product developed by BLINK Alpine follows three core principles:

  • Performance

Products must deliver measurable improvement in real mountain conditions over traditional glide technologies.

  • Universal

Each formula must have a wide performance window to cover variability experienced in real-world snow conditions.

  • Simplicity/Mitigate the use of Heat

Solutions should reduce complexity rather than add to it. Heat is known to affect race ski epoxy. Eliminating or reducing the use of heat can help mitigate the risk of ski delamination, prolong ski life, and protect performance by eliminating the use of irons and excess heat.

  • Modern Chemistry

Apply the use of environmentally responsible waxes and additivitives — Formulations are designed for the current generation of fluoro-free racing and outdoor products. BLINK ALPINE wax complies with current FIS rules.

Looking Forward

BLINK Alpine’s mission is to continue developing new products focused on alpine ski racing while supporting ski resort professionals, technicians, coaches, and athletes who depend on reliable performance in demanding mountain environments.

As alpine skiing continues to evolve in the fluoro-free era, BLINK Alpine is committed to developing glide technologies and ski preparation systems designed for the highest levels of the sport. Our focus remains on solutions that improve performance while simplifying the way skis are maintained and prepared.

Future development will continue to explore new approaches to ski base lubrication, maintenance systems, and race preparation tools that reduce complexity while maintaining the speed and durability required by serious skiers.

From alpine ski racing glide technologies to broader alpine applications, the mission remains consistent: to build the most advanced alpine ski performance solutions possible — designed for racers and professionals who demand World Cup–level speed, precision glide, and uncompromising performance.

BLINK Alpine exists to support the racers, technicians, coaches, and mountain professionals who understand that every hundreth of a second counts — that speed on snow is the result of preparation, experience, and the constant pursuit of better tools.

How & Why it Works

Super Wax One & Super Wax Lite work through a layered glide system built from modern hydrocarbon wax structures, natural lubricants, and advanced synthetics.

Layer 1 – Base Conditioning

The first layer penetrates the ski base and restores lubrication without the need for heat. This creates a stable foundation for long-lasting glide.

Layer 2 – Shear Glide Layer

A low-friction interface forms between the ski and snow, helping the skis maintain smooth slip even in colder conditions.

Layer 3 – Hydrophobic Glide Layer

Advanced lubricating components help manage water interaction at the snow surface, enhancing glide in warmer or more variable snow.

The goal is simple: fast skis with less preparation.

I’m now sharing early batches with racers, coaches, and friends to test and demo.

Formulating the future of Fast Ski Wax

Super Wax One original & enhanced variant for testing.

This week we’ll be testing wax at Nubs in Northern Michigan!

Date: March 11, 2026

I am currently working on developing a new variant of SUPER Wax One designed to expand the wax’s effective performance range across a broader spectrum of temperatures and humidity conditions. The goal of this formulation work is to improve performance in colder snow while maintaining the smooth, durable glide characteristics that define the original version.

To achieve this, I have been experimenting with a series of specialized performance additives intended to strengthen the wax’s boundary lubrication layer and enhance the shear properties of the glide film. In practical terms, this means the wax is being tuned to better resist friction when snow crystals are sharp and abrasive, helping skis maintain speed and consistency even under colder, drier conditions where traditional waxes can begin to feel slow or grabby.

At the same time, an important priority in this work is ensuring that any new materials introduced into the formula remain environmentally responsible. The development process continues to focus on additives and structural components that support high performance while avoiding chemistries that could pose environmental concerns.

In the image to the left you can see that the appearance of this experimental batch differs slightly from the original SUPER Wax One. The color has deepened and the surface of the wax shows a more pronounced sheen. This subtle gloss is the result of changes in the internal structure of the wax matrix and the way the glide film forms at the surface. Compared to the original formulation (shown in the inset), this version produces a more cohesive and resilient surface layer that is designed to improve durability and maintain glide under demanding snow conditions.

These ongoing experiments are part of a broader effort to refine the performance envelope of SUPER Wax One, enhancing the temperature range and humidity flexibility, while preserving the ease of use, high glide speed, and environmentally conscious philosophy that guide the development of all Blink Alpine products.
